According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM has won an IP bidding war for the rights to adapt Glossy, a non-fiction book about beauty company Glossier and its founder Emily Weiss.

The book, written by Marisa Meltzer, became a New York Times best seller when it was released earlier this year, and was billed by publisher Simon & Schuster as “The Devil Wears Prada for the Bad Blood generation.”

In Glossy, Meltzer combines in-depth interviews with former Glossier employees, investors, and Weiss herself to bring readers inside the walls of the beauty company. From fundraising to product launches and unconventional hiring practices, Meltzer exposes the inner workings of Glossier’s culture, culminating in the story of Weiss herself.

Weiss is considered one of the original “girlbosses,” having transformed her beauty blog into a small direct-to-consumer brand, and then into a global cosmetics and skincare player with stores in the U.S. and UK, and more recently, products stocked at Sephora.

Weiss stepped down as CEO of Glossier and transitioned into the role of executive chairwoman in 2022.

Multiple sources confirm that Pet Sematary’s Lindsey Anderson Beer and her production company LAB Brew are attached to produce what’s expected to be an ongoing series at the streaming service, should it move forward.
